If you want to help the developing world, the best charities are ones which help people to help themselves. These do the most good by enabling communities to strengthen and improve themselves. An education is a dangerous thing. Scary dangerous. So scary that 19 th century plantation owners whipped their slaves for becoming literate, 20 th century Nazis burned piles of books, and within the past decade the jihadist militant group Boko Haram has murdered hundreds of Nigerian students whose only crime was to pursue a 'Western education.'. 'In this world you will have trouble.' A quote we're all familiar with from personal experience. Even though it feels like a warning, there's more to it than that. We won't just be impacted with troubles, we can have an impact on the troubles around us. There's an inspiring challenge hidden in that news. People with trouble need help.

(Geneva, 17 July 2013) Seventy-three million people around the world need humanitarian assistance this year, said Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos today in Geneva as she presented the mid-year review of global humanitarian action.
'Halfway through the year donors have generously provided US$5.1 billion for humanitarian organizations to deliver critical aid to people in 24 countries,' noted Valerie Amos. 'For example, in South Sudan the money has been used to provide nearly 450,000 people with safe drinking water while in Mali, nutrition agencies have been able to treat around 77,000 children suffering from life-threatening or acute malnutrition.'
The deteriorating situation in Syria and neighbouring countries has recently added US$4.4 billion to the original amount needed to help people coping with the world's major crises. People in Central African Republic, Niger, Afghanistan, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Yemen, and Chad, among many others, need help feeding their families, treating malnourished children, and getting safe drinking water and other essential supplies.
While the situation has become much worse in some countries, the review also shows that the scale and severity of needs in others, such as Kenya, South Sudan and Mauritania have eased a little, so funding plans have also been revised accordingly.
Some 620 humanitarian aid organizations – NGOs and UN agencies – are using the consolidated appeals to plan their response to crises and monitor the situation and impact of their work.
'This is an extraordinary year. We need US$13 billion if we are to help 73 million people. That's an extra $8.6 billion to raise by the end of the year. Millions of people are in desperate need. We need to support them,' said USG Amos.

You may be wondering what time management has to do with health, so bear with me and read on. The interactive world we live in allows for plenty of distractions. There are distractions by our coworkers or our spouses as well as family and friends. Then there are our own vices browsing through the latest sports scores or seeing which band is going to be playing at our favorite music venue. Try to Determine Your Most Productive Work Times

We humans definitely have ebbs and flows in our productivity. For instance, if you're a writer, you may find that writing in the morning is your most optimal time. If that's the case, concentrate your writing schedule for mornings only and use the afternoons for other tasks. You may need to track what you are doing for several days or weeks to see when these optimum times occur and to determine their frequency. The great thing about doing this consistently is that you can make adjustments for the tasks that are not working out or where you may need extra help. Your manager will appreciate you for trying to become more productive and for being proactive.

Give Yourself a Break
Having a well-defined plan is a great way to increase your productivity, but don't beat yourself up if you happen to have a few days that are not as productive as others. Sometimes the tasks are going to slip up and you will be more distracted than at other times. This is normal for us mortals, and you should allow for some down time to recharge yourself. No one is expecting you to be a productivity robot.
Be Consistent
Time management is a skill which needs to be learned, practiced and applied. It takes some adjusting in the beginning but is really just a matter of changing how you structure your work and the tasks to complete your work. This requires a consistent commitment to making it work.
